Fancy having a go at glass fusing? This taster session is the perfect place to start!

Create a stunning glass sun-catcher to take home while trying out a new craft. During this session you will be shown how to cut and layer glass and also how to design your own creation to be hung in your window.

You will be shown how to safely use the tools and equipment and then it’s over to you (along with help and advice along the way) to turn your ideas into art, no matter what your ability. Sun and glass are always a beautiful combination!

The courses are held on the site of the Red House Glass Cone in the heart of the Glass Quarter. You could spend some time looking around the site, glass blowing demonstrations are held weekend afternoons. There is also a coffee shop on site but tea and coffee will be provided.

Your pieces will need to fired over night, but will be available for collection a few days after the course. Or they can be posted for a small additional postage fee

Create a beautiful set of coasters or small dish, to be able to show off and use. During this session you will be shown how to cut and layer glass and also how to design your pieces from scratch. With so many colours and forms of glass to choose from and various techniques available you can be as adventurous as you like!

Make Your Own Crystal Paperweight

Join this workshop and leave having made your very own lead crystal paperweight. In a small group of 6 people, you will be shown how to correctly and safely handle hot glass. You will learn the techniques for creating a glass paper weight, adding colour, bubbles and swirls in your design. Craft a lasting memory in glass via a creative process that has been passed down since the time of the Ancient Phoenicians.

With expert tuition from glass artist Charlotte Hughes Martin, you will make your very own crystal paperweight. Maybe invite some friends or family to join you and make a nice day of it? The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting inside the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. You could have lunch sitting by the canal or try our on site cafe. Take a walk around the beautiful historic building and visit the numerous other craft studios on site.

All materials and tools will be provided. No previous knowledge required. Please ensure you wear fully closed shoes and practical clothing.

Fused Glass Jewellery Workshop

Fused glass jewellery is beautiful to wear and fun to make! It’s a fantastic way to have a play with glass fusing. With all the different colours and forms of glass available to you as well as metals, you are sure to make some fantastic wearable jewellery.

You will be able to make a few pendants and earring during the session, and choose from a variety of  ways for the final assembly of your pieces. Holes drilled and the findings for 3 necklaces and a pair of earrings will be provided but more options are available for a small extra charge.

Come with friends or make some new ones during this fun workshop, suitable for all.
