Hot Glass Bead Making

£55 per person. 4 people per class, age 14+

On this workshop you will have an introduction to glass bead making (also known as lampwork). Glass artist Sarah Cordingley will take you through bead making techniques including:

Frit & wraps |  Dot & twists  |  Charm beads  |  Acorn beads  |  Creature beads

It’s then over to you to have a go yourself. As part of a small friendly group of 4. You will get plenty of help from Sarah.

Your beads will be annealed in the kiln overnight and then will be available for you to collect the following week. We can post your beads to you for a small extra charge. Torch time is available at an hourly rate once you’ve graduated!

What’s included in the price?

The courses are held at Glass Quarter Designs, Studio 14 on the site of the Red House Glass cone, near Stourbridge in the heart of the Glass Quarter. You can spend some time looking around the site, glass blowing demonstrations are held weekend afternoons. There is also a coffee shop on site but tea and coffee will be provided.

This class would make a fantastic gift for a creative loved one. If you choose this option from the drop down menu you will be posted a handcrafted gift card with details of the course inside.

    We had a lampwork glass bead class with Sarah at the beginning of the year - and had great fun! Sarah is a good teacher - I'm not crafty, but came away with a lovely necklace and bag charm which I'm proud to say I made! We'll definitely be back for more! - March 22, 2018

Crushed Glass Dish Workshop

This workshop is a great way to give fused glass a try especially if you’re nervous about cutting glass. During the workshop you will use glass frit to create a beautiful colourful fused glass dish.
Jane will demonstrate how to use the tools and equipment safely. If you want to cut the shape of your dish yourself, Jane will demonstrate the techniques. However if you are a little nervous, Jane can help. Using and layering smashed glass and frit you will be able to apply a bold colourful design to your piece.

Your pieces will need to fired over night, but will be available for collection a few days after the course. Or they can be posted for a small additional postage fee.

The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting. The Glass Quarter Designs studio is well equipped, and has an inspiring, creative atmosphere and of course is based at the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. GLASS ENGRAVING WORKSHOP

Itching for etching! This fantastic glass engraving course is taught by glass artist Charlotte H Martin. In this one day class, students will be taught the basics of hand engraving glass. The workshop will cover technique and pattern, with students having the choice of creating their own designs or working with one of Charlotte’s many images. Fancy getting creative with glass? Whether you have had a go at fused glass before or are a complete beginner, come along and turn your designs into a piece of art you’ll be proud of!

During the 2 hour session you will be shown how to cut and layer glass and also how to produce your pieces from your own ideas. With a variety of colours and forms of glass and techniques available for you to use you can be as adventurous as you want!

You will be shown how to safely use the tools and equipment and then it’s over to you (along with help and advice along the way) to turn your ideas into art!
