Tis’ the season to be crafting! Come join Sarah and start getting into the spirit with some Christmas themed mosaic classes. Whether you want to learn a new skill, or use the skills you have already developed; come along and make some fab Christmas decorations.

​Sarah will demonstrate how to safely use the tools and equipment, to cut and shape the crockery and glass. Then you can pick the colours and start to design the piece. Sarah will talk you through the mosaicking process of designing, arranging, gluing & grouting.​

The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting inside the grounds of the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. You could have lunch sitting by the canal or try our on site cafe. Take a walk around the beautiful historic building and visit the numerous other craft studios on site.

All materials and tools will be provided. No previous knowledge required. Please ensure you wear fully closed shoes and practical clothing.

Join this workshop and leave having made your very own lead crystal paperweight. In a small group of 6 people, you will be shown how to correctly and safely handle hot glass. You will learn the techniques for creating a glass paper weight, adding colour, bubbles and swirls in your design. Craft a lasting memory in glass via a creative process that has been passed down since the time of the Ancient Phoenicians.

With expert tuition from glass artist Charlotte Hughes Martin, you will make your very own crystal paperweight. Maybe invite some friends or family to join you and make a nice day of it? The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting inside the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. Festive Fusing Workshop

Christmas Decorations – The session will be spent making lovely fused glass Christmas decorations while getting into the spirit of things.
1st December
10am – 1pm & 2pm – 5pm

Xmas Curves – In this session you will make a Christmas themed, curved glass, free standing picture to go in front of candles or on a window sill.
7th December
10am – 12pm & 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Festive Fusing Anarchy! – In this session you will make what you want!

HOT GLASS BEAD WORKSHOPS

Hot Glass Bead Making

£55 per person. 4 people per class, age 14+

On this workshop you will have an introduction to glass bead making (also known as lampwork). Glass artist Sarah Cordingley will take you through bead making techniques including:

Frit & wraps |  Dot & twists  |  Charm beads  |  Acorn beads  |  Creature beads

It’s then over to you to have a go yourself. As part of a small friendly group of 4. You will get plenty of help from Sarah.

Your beads will be annealed in the kiln overnight and then will be available for you to collect the following week. We can post your beads to you for a small extra charge. Torch time is available at an hourly rate once you’ve graduated!

What’s included in the price?

The courses are held at Glass Quarter Designs, Studio 14 on the site of the Red House Glass cone, near Stourbridge in the heart of the Glass Quarter. You can spend some time looking around the site, glass blowing demonstrations are held weekend afternoons. There is also a coffee shop on site but tea and coffee will be provided.

This class would make a fantastic gift for a creative loved one. If you choose this option from the drop down menu you will be posted a handcrafted gift card with details of the course inside.

Fused Glass Picture Curve

Fancy getting creative with glass? Whether you have had a go at fused glass before or are a complete beginner, come along and turn your designs into a piece of art you’ll be proud of!

During the 2 hour session you will be shown how to cut and layer glass and also how to produce your pieces from your own ideas. With a variety of colours and forms of glass and techniques available for you to use you can be as adventurous as you want!

You will be shown how to safely use the tools and equipment and then it’s over to you (along with help and advice along the way) to turn your ideas into art!
