Saturdays, 10.30am – 4pm.

If you would like to do a workshop but need a buddy to pair up with we have people waiting. Just let us know you’re availability and what print disciplines you are interested in and we’ll add you to the list.  

Artist Mike Allison has a printmaking workshop at the Ruskin Craft Centre. He specialises in relief printmaking, in particular engraving and linocuts. He also offers tuition in collagraph, drypoint and monotype.

Mike has exhibited his prints widely and is a past chair of Birmingham printmakers.  He is currently working on 100 views of Birmingham, using a combination of relief printmaking techniques.
Mike offers workshops to groups of two people at a time on Saturdays. The sessions are from 10.30am – 4pm and cost £110 for the session (1 person is £110, two people pay £55 each). Participants can choose from linocut, engraving, dry-point, mono-type and collagraph. Please get in touch here to arrange a Saturday that suits.

During this half day workshop, you will make your own house number sign using vintage crockery pieces and glass with various effects.

Sarah will demonstrate how to safely use the tools and equipment, to cut and shape the crockery and glass. Then you can pick the colours and design the sign. Sarah will talk you through the mosaicing process from designing, arranging, gluing and grouting.

The courses are held at Glass Quarter Designs, Studio 14 on the site of the Red House Glass Cone, near Stourbridge in the heart of the Glass Quarter. You can spend some time looking around the site, glass blowing demonstrations are held weekend afternoons. There is also a coffee shop on site but tea and coffee will be provided.

Merry Mosaics Workshop

Tis’ the season to be crafting! Come join Sarah and start getting into the spirit with some Christmas themed mosaic classes. Whether you want to learn a new skill, or use the skills you have already developed; come along and make some fab Christmas decorations.

​Sarah will demonstrate how to safely use the tools and equipment, to cut and shape the crockery and glass. Then you can pick the colours and start to design the piece. Sarah will talk you through the mosaicking process of designing, arranging, gluing & grouting.​

The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting inside the grounds of the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. You could have lunch sitting by the canal or try our on site cafe. Take a walk around the beautiful historic building and visit the numerous other craft studios on site.

All materials and tools will be provided. No previous knowledge required. Please ensure you wear fully closed shoes and practical clothing.

Glass Blowing Experience, Blow your Own Christmas Bauble

Want to have a go at glass blowing? This courses is a great introduction to the art. In a small group of people, you will be shown how to correctly and safely handle hot glass and the techniques for creating your own Christmas bauble to be proud of year after year or to give as a gift.

With expert tuition from glass artist Charlotte Hughes Martin, you will make your very own hand blown Christmas Bauble. Maybe get some friends and family to join you and make a nice day of it. The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting inside the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. You could have lunch sitting by the canal or try our on site cafe. Take a walk around the beautiful historic building and visit the numerous other craft studios on site.

Festive Fusing Workshop

Christmas Decorations – The session will be spent making lovely fused glass Christmas decorations while getting into the spirit of things.
1st December
10am – 1pm & 2pm – 5pm

Xmas Curves – In this session you will make a Christmas themed, curved glass, free standing picture to go in front of candles or on a window sill.
7th December
10am – 12pm & 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Festive Anarchy –  In this session you will make whatever you like! Using all that is left in the studio, go crazy and make whatever you like… suitable for all ages from 7 + 
14th December
10am – 12pm & 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Whether you want to try a new craft, get Christmasy creative with the skills you already have, or simply have a go while singing some Christmas tunes, all are welcome!

You will be shown how to safely use the tools and equipment and then it’s over to you (along with help and advice along the way) to turn your ideas into Christmas art.
