On this wonderfully creative and fun workshop you will learn the techniques of lampwork glass bead making. This intimate workshop of 4 people is suitable for complete beginners and those wanting to improve their skills. During this session, Sarah will take you through techniques such as creating stripes of colour, encasing to create a magnified pattern, spots, swirls and much more! Choose the colours you would like to use from our glass store and by the end of the session you will have made a unique glass bead necklace to be proud of.

Your beads will be annealed in the kiln and will be available for you to collect the following week or we can post your beads for a small charge.

​The courses are held on the site of the Red House Glass Cone, near Stourbridge in the heart of the Glass Quarter. You can spend some time looking around the site, glass blowing demonstrations are held weekend afternoons. There is also a coffee shop on site but tea and coffee will be provided.

This is a brilliant contemporary glass course taught by glass artist Charlotte H Martin using techniques that are a couple of millennia old! The fantastic glass pieces you will create will not fade or alter over time. They will be permanently beautiful for the next 1000 years (just don’t drop it!)

Within the workshop you will learn how to cut glass safely, and different paint application techniques. The class will use our own method of glass painting, which gives a beautifully subtle three dimensional effect to the glass created.

All you need to bring is yourself and your enthusiasm! Though any pictures or subject material can be gladly incorporated into your work.

This workshop is a perfect experience to share with friends and family and would make a fantastic gift for a creative loved one. You can choose this gift option from the drop down menu.

The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting. The studio is well equipped, and has an inspiring, creative atmosphere and of course is based at the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. You could have lunch sitting by the canal or try our on site cafe. Take a walk around the beautiful historic building and visit the numerous other craft studios on site.

All materials and tools will be provided. No previous knowledge required. Please insure that you wear fully closed shoes and practical clothing. Price £65 per person.

Printmaking Workshop

This fantastic print making workshop is run at the wonderful Ruskin Craft Centre. You can choose from 5 print disciplines; linocut, engraving, dry-point, mono-type and collagraph.

Saturdays, 10.30am – 4pm.

If you would like to do a workshop but need a buddy to pair up with we have people waiting. Just let us know you’re availability and what print disciplines you are interested in and we’ll add you to the list.  

Artist Mike Allison has a printmaking workshop at the Ruskin Craft Centre. He specialises in relief printmaking, in particular engraving and linocuts. He also offers tuition in collagraph, drypoint and monotype.

Mike has exhibited his prints widely and is a past chair of Birmingham printmakers.  He is currently working on 100 views of Birmingham, using a combination of relief printmaking techniques.
Mike offers workshops to groups of two people at a time on Saturdays. The sessions are from 10.30am – 4pm and cost £110 for the session (1 person is £110, two people pay £55 each). Participants can choose from linocut, engraving, dry-point, mono-type and collagraph. Please get in touch here to arrange a Saturday that suits.

Merry Mosaics Workshop

Tis’ the season to be crafting! Come join Sarah and start getting into the spirit with some Christmas themed mosaic classes. Whether you want to learn a new skill, or use the skills you have already developed; come along and make some fab Christmas decorations.

​Sarah will demonstrate how to safely use the tools and equipment, to cut and shape the crockery and glass. Then you can pick the colours and start to design the piece. Sarah will talk you through the mosaicking process of designing, arranging, gluing & grouting.​

The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting inside the grounds of the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. You could have lunch sitting by the canal or try our on site cafe. Take a walk around the beautiful historic building and visit the numerous other craft studios on site.

Fancy getting creative with glass? Whether you have done glass fusing before or are a complete beginner, you are welcome to this fabulous workshop. Come along and turn your designs into work to be proud of.

Create a beautiful set of coasters or small dish, to be able to show off and use. During this session you will be shown how to cut and layer glass and also how to design your pieces from scratch. With so many colours and forms of glass to choose from and various techniques available you can be as adventurous as you like!

You will be shown how to safely use the tools and equipment and then it’s over to you (along with help and advice along the way) to turn your ideas into art!
